It has long been the ambition for many members of the band to
come together in small ensemble groups and to play 'just for
fun'. The usual pressures of the day job and conflicting
diary commitments has meant that this never quite happened.
Steve Bennett,
however, had other ideas and in July 2007, arranged a for an
Eynsford Concert Band Charity Garden Party to take place in his
back garden. |
 |
The plan was simple; appeal
to the competitive nature of each of the band sections and encourage
them to come together to rehearse and perform a handful of ensemble pieces to an audience of band members, friends and families.....all
for a £5 per head charity donation.

The plan worked flawlessly...
- The brass section took the challenge to extreme,
naturally, entertaining us with 2 sets while wearing
ridiculously loud Hawaiian shirts (noticeably a size too
small for many of them!)
- The sun shone for the first and last time this
summer
- We raised over £825 for Macmillan Cancer Support
|
The groups that played included:
- The Woodwind Ensemble
- Clarinet Ensemble
- Saxophone Ensemble
- Brass Ensemble
- Angela and Emma (Clarinet Duet)
- Peta and Liz (Vocals)

We would like to thank Steve and Denise their hospitality and
for giving up their home for the afternoon. Great fun was
had by all and we hope that this will become an annual event. |
