From the composer’s own notes: A three-movement composition from a former conductor of the RAF Central Band. The first two movements, ‘Dance with the Devil’ and ‘A Glimpse of Paradise’ represent a transition from darkness to light. The final movement, ‘Reyes Magos’ is the joyous fiesta of the Three Kings.
‘Sinfonietta’ was written whilst the composer was living in Spain and there January 6th, rather than Christmas Day, is the main day of present-giving, marking the Epiphany, the arrival of the Kings from the Orient at the Nativity.
