Back to our roots!

On a sunny Sunday 12th September 2021, Eynsford Concert Band returned to its roots to perform a concert in the grounds of the stunning Lullingstone Castle.

The band was founded in 1972 by Robin O’Connell who lived at Lullingstone until his death in 1997. While the band didn’t perform at the castle, many of the band’s members have very fond memories of band socials and “after concert” get-togethers in his apartments there.

Sunday’s concert was a result of the band reestablishing contact with Sarah and Tom Hart-Dyke, the current hereditary owners of Lullingstone, and we were really pleased to be asked to perform in the grounds alongside the house and their famous World Garden.

Attracting an audience of over 350 on a late summers afternoon, the stage was set for an enjoyable afternoon that proved to be a huge success.

Many thanks again to Sarah and Tom for hosting us and we very much hope to be able to perform at the castle again in the near future!

Lullingstone Castle is set in 120 Acres of the Kent countryside and is one of England’s oldest family estates, dating back to the time of Domesday. The famous World Garden combines plant heritage with cutting-edge horticulture.

It is certainly worth a visit! Read more here: https://www.lullingstonecastle.co.uk
