The evening of Sunday 19th April would have seen us performing ‘London Pictures’ with the Band of the Grenadier Guards at The Space, Sevenoaks and raising much needed funds for ABF – The Soldiers’ Charity.
Unfortunately, this was not to be.
We are, however, thinking of you all and hoping that you are keeping safe and well during these difficult times. In absence of our live performance, we also wanted to share a little joy through this ‘blast from the past’ performance from our spring concert in 2018:
You will be pleased to know that Eynsford Concert Band has been keeping its Tuesday evening traditions going by coming together for online quizzes and a bit of banter each week.
We investigated the idea of ‘online rehearsals’, but determined that the internet was fragile enough and didn’t really need this strain put on it as well!
Sadly, this concert would have been the last for the Band of the Grenadier Guards with Major Mike Smith as their Director of Music. We are still hopeful that we can reschedule the event and that he will be able to complete this mission with them.
In the meantime, I am very pleased to let you know that Mike’s new tour of duty includes a promotion to Lieutenant Colonel and an appointment to be ‘Commanding Officer the Regional Bands of the Army’. This is a fantastic and significant achievement and we wish him many congratulations and much success for when things return to normal. …and yes, it is a London based role and hopefully won’t impact his more important role as ECB’s Musical Director!.
We hope that it won’t be too much longer before we can all be together again. In the meantime, please enjoy Breezin’ Down Broadway and the other performances we have on our ‘In Action’ library and we’ll be back in touch with you again soon.
And if you’re able to donate to ABF, I know that they would really appreciate it!
Be safe, follow government guidance and stay well!
